STOP CRUELTY

Animals are sentient and conscious creatures that demonstrate striking similarities to humans.Although they may not express them identically to humans, any pet parent can easily tell that each animal is unique, precious in its own identity, and its life should be cherished and protected.

Many people believe that certain animals cannot feel pain, or because humans express higher intelligence than certain animals they should not be concerned about animal welfare, but these notions are easily refuted when we consider the cognitive and paradigmatic biases from which they arise.
Speciesism is the discriminatory practice of giving certain rights and privileges to individuals based solely on the species group to which they belong. Like sexism, racism, or ageism, it is a flawed system of belief that does not take into account the basic rights to life that all animals deserve.

Anthropocentrism is a similar term that denotes a set of beliefs that places humans above all other animals; again, it makes a moral distinction between humans and animals.

Finally, sentiocentrism is the belief that if an animal cannot feel, sense, or experience the same things that a human can, then that animal should not be awarded the same status as a human. All of these belief systems are borne of a false sense of righteousness and entitlement. Once these cognitive biases are overcome, the reality that all animals do have rights becomes salient.
Another right of animals that must be respected is the right to thrive in a clean, safe, and sustainable environment. It has grown increasingly clear that human behaviour has wreaked unprecedented havoc on some of the most sensitive ecosystems in the world, turning what used to be lush rain-forests into flat plains, and bustling coral reefs into ocean wastelands.
By destroying the environment for human gain, we are also destroying some of the only places our animal friends can call home. Thus, the environmental or ‘green’ movement is also closely linked with the animal rights movement.Because the two are inextricably connected, it is clear that in order to protect and ensure animal rights, we also have to become stewards of the earth and fight for environmental sustainability.
The use of animals for products is perhaps one of the most disconcerting displays of human greed that has grown in popularity. When there is an economic incentive, many people disregard morality altogether. For example, poachers, shark-finners, and black market participants often view animals solely as commodities.
Quite disturbingly, the basic rights of a life are discarded and replaced with a dollar sign.Given that animals have the right to live free of suffering at the hands of humans, it is crucial that we consider the many viable alternatives to animal products.By voting with our dollars, so to speak, we can make an impact on the global animal trade. We must also hold those who manufacture animal products or conduct animal testing publicly accountable.
Ultimately, animal welfare advocates and animal rights activists have a strong sense of core beliefs guided by an unwavering morality. Some of the primary things that animal rights advocates believe are:
non-human animals are conscious beings, not machines or objects
non-human animals have interests of their own
human beings should respect the interests of non-human animals
human beings should not exploit non-human animals
human beings should not treat non-human animals as objects
human beings should not kill non-human animals.

Although the topic of animal rights is one that could span volumes, it is my sincere wish that this article has sparked some interest and will generate discussion about the basis of the animal rights movement and why it is important.
I firmly believe that it is up to each of us to be courageous enough to stand up for animal rights, as it is a progressive movement that will ultimately result in a more compassionate and equitable world.
This is a time in our history in which numerous dynamic changes and possible truths have come forward. There are things now possible that we have only been able to dream of in the past, and there is knowledge abound that can help save us all.At the apex of these wondrous breakthroughs, there is another idea that should not be so revolutionary: The idea that human beings and animals share the same rights, and that all species should be treated equally.
The basic tenants of what we consider our basic rights as human beings should, in turn, be given to other sentient beings. After all, we consider these rights inalienable to us simply because we are sentient beings ourselves.
Our fellow beings share many of our characteristics, yet we conveniently ignore these shared characteristics when using the flesh of animals for our meals and skins of animals for our clothing, among other heinous purposes. Our fellow mammals also breastfeed their young, feeling the same loving connection to their offspring as we do to ours.
Other animals also feel pain, which we inflict on them with no thought, but avoid religiously for ourselves. The point of this article, however, is not to enumerate the ways in which animals and human beings are similar. In fact, many know that humans are often the lesser animal to many species, as we are the cause of climate change, deforestation, etc.We human beings are animals, too, and far more destructive than almost any other species on this great, green Earth.
Another common practice which stands in opposition to animal rights is the use of animals in medical and product testing. There’s a popular saying about this:“Don’t test the animals, they don’t have the answers.”Perhaps this is somewhat silly, but the sentiment carries the truth. In fact, all drugs and products tested on animals still must undergo human trial.
Using non-human animals to search for drugs for humans is a colossal waste of time and resources for many reasons. Most every drug that passes through preclinical trials, tested on animals, are deemed useless or harmful when tested on human individuals, negating all the time and effort and resources on the part of the researchers and causing needless pain and suffering to God's innocent and helpless creatures.
In spite of all this testing, major diseases such as cancer and diabetes have remained incurable.Despite all of the animals that have endured torturous circumstances and vivisection, there is little to nothing to show for it, for those that tout its importance.
We would be less likely to fall to deadly diseases associated with high levels of cholesterol, fat, and excessive protein.
We would be kinder, showing more appreciation for our fellow beings. We would have a steadier supply of clean water to drink, and would lose less topsoil to atrocious farming practices. So very much is to gain from granting animals their rights, and so very much to lose from remaining stagnant, stuck in our current, destructive ways.
We begin with the vital question: What exactly is meant by the term “animal rights”? Does it mean that a dog can run for public office, or that a cat is responsible for paying taxes?Of course not.
Animals do not share the same social responsibilities as we do.We are their guardians, their wardens, charged with conserving their territories and caring for them.Animal rights simply refers to the rights we, for the most part, deny to animals and fight for ourselves.
We would consider it universally sickening and disturbing if even one human being was raised from birth to have his or her body hair harvested to create coats, their skin used to make clothing or sporting items, and their flesh cultivated in order for others to consume.
How, then, do we, as a collective society, find it acceptable that an unfathomable sum of animals we often think of as ‘cute and cuddly’ are killed by the minute for these very purposes?
As keepers of the planet and investors in the welfare of other creatures who also inhabit this Earth, it is our duty to bestow the esteem and respect we owe to our fellow creatures.

It is our charge to do what we would consider right by other humans and grant animals rights that protect them from harm and exploitation. With this in mind, there are acts that cannot continue, in the name of animal rights and the sanctity of life for all creatures.Human beings do not require animals in their diet in order to thrive, let alone live.
As obligate omnivores, we could exist exclusively as herbivores, taking no meat and living on a plant-based diet, and live healthy lifestyles. In fact, it has been studied in numerous cases that those who do abstain from the consumption of meat have lower instances of dreaded diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.
The instances of these illnesses in vegan individuals are even fewer. It is also true that raising animals for food has led to such atrocities as deforestation to raise cattle, the loss of topsoil, befouling of water sources, and overall contributions to global destruction.
We have the means and technology to keep the entire world healthy and fed on a plant-based diet. For the sake of animal rights, as sacred and important as human rights, the consumption of their flesh must end.
We simply do not need to harm other creatures in order to live, thrive, or even have productive lives. No being deserves to be abused for the benefit of others; this is something that civilized persons have accepted for a very long time.

Why has this not been extended to animals? We have no right to take advantage of our fellow beings and exploit their reactions to pain and chemical, possibly hazardous, materials; it is their right to be protected as we are protected by law from such treatment.
It is erroneous to assume that those involved in the Animal Rights campaign, who hold the values expressed in this article dear to their hearts, care nothing for the suffering of human beings. This is a false statement, presumptuous and harmful in its very nature.Denying that humans have dominion over animals is not equivocated to denying human rights.

Animal rights activists simply believe that animals should enjoy the same freedoms from threat of injury and exploitation that we do.
Most individuals that champion animal rights are in favor of fundamental rights for human beings as well, because empathy knows no barriers, not sex, race, class, or species.By showing respect toward all life, the lives of human beings are not devalued.
In fact, human beings stand to benefit from giving animals their fundamental rights. We would have better medical practices for research, leading to possible cures and improved treatment for diseases. We would have enough arable land to feed the world population, and help it to thrive.

So, you've heard about the insane people who use their valuable time to help animals, right? You don’t like them, and don’t see anything wrong with hating them, harming animals or promoting the evil fur-trade, right? This is the exact type of attitude that animal rights activists want to educate people against and change.
The truth is that the animals who are abused and tortured are innocent, and so are all living, breathing creatures created by God, Jesus Christ.
The world of animal activism is a noble fight to end the suffering of animals, worldwide. This is why kind-hearted people take valuable time out of their day to strive for better treatment for animals.
If you're interested in helping animals, but do not know exactly where to start, there are tons of small steps you can take in your everyday life to ensure a better world for our fellow earthlings. For instance, something as small and easy as recycling plastics and other resources has huge impact not only on the environment, but on animal welfare.Litter destroys the natural habitats of animals and endangers their lives.

Another way that you can help animals is to simply refuse to patronize product lines that use animals. More and more kind companies are going cruelty-free, and I am grateful to them for their kindness to my animal friends.
Supporting companies that don't use animal products or test on animals encourages other companies to cease their cruelty on animals. If you are a college or high school student, you can write a letter and perhaps start a petition with your peers to have vegan or vegetarian options added to the school menus.
You don't necessarily have to be on the front lines to fight for the rights of animals, you simply have to be a kind, caring and generous individual like my mommy and most of my fellow activists' friends.
Call your local animal shelter and see if they take donations of food for the animals that live there.See about adopting a pet from the shelter for you and your family to love and enjoy.Every little bit helps.
There is a wonderful Scripture in the Old Testament, the last verse of the Book of Jonah, where God expresses His concern for the animals in Nineveh .
In Jonah 4:11 God informs Jonah that the people are ignorant of the truth, not knowing their right hand from their left, and that there is MUCH CATTLE in Nineveh. That is a remarkable statement from God.If God were to destroy the people, then who would care for the animals?
2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that everyone may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

It’s no secret that we all live in times of dire violence and destruction. One need only turn on the evening news to hear atrocious stories of husbands or deadly  cowards abusing and murdering wives, females, animals and children horrifically abused or neglected, riots in the streets of heavily urbanized areas, and other horrible tragedies.
It is remarkably easy to allow ourselves to become desensitized to these violent acts; indeed, what seemed horrific ten years ago might seem so very quaint today. Where does all of this come from? How have we, as a people, become so cavalier, so devastatingly accepting of evil acts and deeds perpetrated by our fellow man? Where does all of this end?
We teach our children by our silence.Through our lack of outrage, our kids become passively indoctrinated to look the other way and simply be grateful that nothing has happened to them.

We’ve turned our backs on one another, in large part, and our world is shrinking as we lose the ability to feel warmth and love and empathy for our neighbors.
What about those other children, though? What about those mothers and animals on the news that are so ‘politely’ tucked away into the corners of our minds? Are they not valuable beings, too?
Unfortunately, because it is so terrifying and horrific, many are willing to turn a blind eye and deaf ear to the shocking issue of animal cruelty, domestic violence, death threats, brain-washing, mind-control, sexual assault, sodomy, human trafficking, even when those beings are innocent, abused, elderly and helpless.
Many have adopted the ‘better them than me’ attitude and ignore the sums and figures, but today, we’re dealing with facts, not fantasies.
We’re dealing with the countless of individuals of all ages, sizes, genders, races, and backgrounds, who are abused, sold into slavery, sometimes for labor, sometimes for sex, sometimes for other unspeakable practices, who are forgotten every single year. This is the real news, not the latest celebrity antics. The lives sold and trafficked every day are valuable for their status as living beings, period, not for the dollar sign attached to their torment.
Of course, we’re desperate to turn a blind eye to the suffering of our most faithful companions. This cognitive dissonance has led to the suffering of incalculable animals all across the globe, and the figure rises to frightening totals with each day that passes.
We speak not only of the detestable practices of animal trafficking, testing, vivisection, fur farming, captivity, and the rampant crimes constantly excused in the meat industry, but the things happening in backyards everywhere–right now.
Look down at the foot of your bed or at the other end of your couch.Look at the windowsill, or anywhere else your beloved rabbit, cat or dog might be lazily snoozing or licking their paw.Could you imagine refusing them a pet or snuggle when they rub up against your leg or climb into your lap?

Could you imagine not filling up the water bowl with fresh, clean water several times a day, or scooping out a heaping portion of food, or making sure your pet has a warm place to sleep at night?Probably not.Could you wrap your head around ever striking your animal? The answer, hopefully, is of course not. This is the sickening reality for an outrageous amount of bunnies, cats, dogs, and other animals.
The injustice could bring the strongest to their knees in sorrow, for what could be more sad than bringing pain to a creature that only wants to love and be loved in return?
It is time that we all stop turning a blind eye to the issues of human and animal abuse.Part of the reason we have become so violent against one another is because we have institutionalized violence against the innocent and helpless.
We are, if nothing else, stewards of the animals and guardians of the children, both relying on us, in their own way, for food, comfort, shelter, etc. When that role is perverted into something different, there is suffering, period.

We can no longer stand idly by while the helpless are traded like currency. We can no longer simply ignore the silent cries of the innocent. abused and helpless, and go about our daily lives as though their pain and hunger do not exist.Quite the contrary, they do exist, and it is our responsibility to help.
We urge you now to take action like never before. The fate of millions rests in our collective hands, and we have the power to make significant change.
The first step for many is to merely acknowledge. Acknowledge that girls go missing from their homes at night, kidnapped and transported across borders to serve as cheap labor.
Acknowledge that it isn’t okay to ignore the sad animal abuse ads on television simply because they are sad, because that is the point of those advertisements.
You shouldn’t simply change the channel to the latest sitcom and numb yourself to reality, and that isn’t something that responsible citizens of this world do.It’s there. It’s real. And it’s not going away just because cable offers numerous ways for you to occupy your mind otherwise.

Martin Luther King, Jr. once said that injustice everywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. It’s time to stop these injustices before they spread even further or are used to justify suffering of even more groups.Get concerned.Get active.Spread the word.
Proverbs 31:8-9
Open your mouth those unable to speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are left desolate and defenseless.
We all know about the adorable aesthetics of rabbits. At present, eight genera of rabbits are to be found in the world, of which the Amami rabbit of Japan already faces extinction. They are known for having fuzzy pelts and fine hair that may be commercially used to create fur products.

In addition, rabbits are known for being extremely meek and relatively slower mammals that can hardly protect themselves from the various attacks that are posed on them.Their essential harmless nature makes them an easy victim of the worldwide animal fur industry. In fact, it has been accurately surmised that rabbit fur constitutes the fastest growing part of the worldwide fur trade. This proves to be a deplorable statistic end to one of the most playful and innocent animals that nature has on offer.

In the wild, rabbits frequent the meadows, grasslands, and other landscapes that have ample provisions for their survival. This makes rabbit warrens very easy to locate. Their underground burrows also alert hunters about their nesting extent.Since they usually live in packs, situating a single rabbit hole proves to be very lucrative for these hunters, as they can capture multiple rabbits from a single warren or interconnected ones.
The majority of the rabbit population is found in North America. This makes this continent one of the major producers and exporter of rabbit fur in the world. Along with North America, many European nations also pride themselves with the vain statistics of being a major player in the global rabbit fur industry.

Since a rabbit has a petite anatomy, about 30 to 40 rabbits need to be slaughtered to produce an average fur coat. Such a despicable fact places much pressure on wild-rabbit hunters.

Consequently, extensive rabbit fur farms have cropped up in several parts of the world.Herein, rabbits are especially bred in torturous circumstances, just so that they can whet the cruel appetites of some superficial fashionista.

As far as commercial fur farming is concerned, the genus of rabbits that is most in demand is that of the Rex rabbits. Rex Rabbits may be of two kinds. While the Castor Rex exhibits a brownish color, and is the more expensive variety, the Chinchilla Rex provides the cheaper alternative.Other than these, another breed that has also proved to be highly popular is that of the Orylag rabbits, which are especially farmed in France for their fur as well as their meat.

This is a truly horrid instance of animal cruelty at its worst. In fact, mortality rates in rabbit farms happen to be very high. While the Rex rabbits exhibit a mortality rate of 10 to 15%, the mortality rate among Orylag rabbits is as high as 25 to 35%. Countless ordeals and traumas are in store for these harmless rabbits in fur farms.

On a rabbit fur farm, breeding rabbits are managed for 3 years. During this time, they are forced to reproduce. After the birth of their kits, the mother rabbits are forcibly separated from their offspring within 4 weeks. Such separations are continued for lengthy periods of time.In fact, mothers are only permitted to enter the nursing area during unstable feeding times.

Such malicious partitions, which go against the natural course of mammary nursing, put the mothers under a great deal of stress. As a result, it is not uncommon for mother rabbits to show symptoms of derangement that might at times manifest itself in the form of cannibalism, wherein the mother may eat her young.

The fate of the children is also as horrible as that of their mothers. Whatever be their kind, all breeds of this helpless mammal are kept in abominable conditions. They are restrained in bare wire mesh cages that are too small to allow them the liberty to move about freely- something that they are instinctively programmed to do because of their natural reflexes. In fact, the cages for single rabbits have the measly dimension of about two shoe-boxes.Sometimes as many as 12 rabbits are crammed into an enclosure that is only a third larger than the aforementioned single-rabbit cage size.

Owing to such poor and inhuman living conditions, many rabbits develop spinal deformations, broken bones, and appalling skin lesions.Further, the mesh flooring of the cages creates sore hocks, and other infectious paw injuries.

Many of them are also afflicted by respiratory diseases, caused by poor ventilation. As a result, a considerable percentage of the rabbits lose their lives, much before reaching the slaughterhouse.

The slaughterhouse, in itself, is the representative vortex of inexcusable animal cruelty. These animals are often killed by incurring blows with heavy sticks before their throats are slits. At other places, these naturally docile and helpless animals are stunned by electric instruments. In view of the horrific way in which multiple rabbits are restrained in vertically piled crates, as they watch their brethren being slaughtered, while they, themselves, writhe and bleed in rabbit excrements, these fur farms can be rightly equated with modern day animal torture chambers.

While the Rex variety of rabbits are more common in the world, the more exclusive and expensive rabbit furs that adorn the wardrobe of the rich and famous are actually extracted from Orylag rabbits.

These rabbits are the products of 15 years of genetic engineering endeavor that was undertaken by the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA).

The fur of these rabbits is known for being softer, shinier, and more resistant to the ravages of natural elements. Owing to this, these rabbits are only bred in a select few farms in France that maintain strict standards of quality. From here on, they are often transported to the design studios of some of the biggest fashion labels in the world.

The Orylag mothers are known for producing 7 - 12 babies at a time. After she has reproduced, she goes through forcible artificial insemination after only a few days.

Though such rabbits are considered to be bred in ethically acceptable conditions, they are, in fact, subjected to the very same kind of ruthless treatment that their Rex counterparts experience. Like the Rex rabbits, the Orylag rabbits are also separated from their mothers at four weeks.

From this time until till their seventh week, they live with their siblings. Finally, they are placed in solitary cages, so as to prevent fighting (a physical manifestation of their psychological distress) and damage to their pelts. Once they are about 20 weeks old, they are slaughtered in cold blood.

There is little awareness among people about the conditions at rabbit fur farms. Even if many people know about the consequences of their fur purchases, very few of them have the conscience to say 'NO' to such products. This is evidenced in the fact that the rabbit fur sales have grown over the years.

While traders continue with their mad lust for money, countless rabbits are being killed to satiate the growing demands of this industry. With a gradual decrease in the production costs, it is estimated that rabbit fur sales are only going to escalate. This can only project a grim future for these social and endearing mammals.
I don’t like cruel people and can’t think of anything more heartless, than to deliberately hurt God's creatures.God, Jesus Christ gave us pets to love and comfort us.No one should ever hurt or be cruel to an animal.
In the light of the clear teaching of Scripture concerning creation and mankind’s responsibility for it, we should treat animals with the love and concern of those who must give an account of our conduct to God.

We must determine to do all in our power to stop mistreatment and tortures of living beings.

All animals belong to God.What gives us the right to torture them in the name of vanity and “science”?
The Bible indicates that all animals are acceptable in God’s sight. While all human beings need forgiveness and salvation, all animals are in a right relationship with God. We should remember this and be humbled and not mistreat animals but love and protect them from harm.
We have a moral compass, i.e., a conscience about sin that animals do not have.We are answerable to God for our treatment of animals.
What are we going to say about trapping animals for furs, treating them cruelly for Science, forcing them to do unnatural acts in circuses, confining and abusing them for our amusement? How can you justify the torture and killing of countless animals for furs and “research”?
God identifies Himself with bears, lions and leopards. What Christian can approve the killing of these majestic wild animals for blood-sports, fur coats and rugs?

God gave animals fur to keep them warm.He gave us the brains to make synthetic materials from plants. Why don’t we use them more?

In the name of science, countless more animals suffer in worldwide every year.
In the first chapter of the Bible, God made mankind responsible for His animals (Genesis 1-28).

All animals are God’s animals (Psalm 50:10) and we are answerable to God for our treatment, care and protection of them. There are so many evil people battering baby seals to death so that some vain and shallow person can wear fur coats.

Those scientists who burn, infect, cripple, blind, shock, radiate, starve, asphyxiate and dissect rabbits, cats, dogs and other innocent victims for ‘research’ and often just trivial curiosity will not get away with their wickedness.
How could we expect God, Jesus Christ to ignore the slaughter of gentle rabbits, sheep and lambs for their fur and wool, and magnificent elephants just to provide ivory ornaments, bracelets and necklaces?

How can we remain unmoved at the killing and skinning of innocent, lovable Rabbits and newborn lambs to provide fur garments?

God has provided us with cotton and the ability to make synthetic materials like nylon.

We can shear sheep of their wool in summer. How can fashion justify the butchering of baby lambs and bunnies for their skins?
Millions of wild animals die painful, lingering deaths in vicious traps every year. Not for food – for furs! Millions more are bred on fur farms and slaughtered for fashion.
The beauty industry inflicts untold agony on almost a million animals every year for perfumes, lipsticks and other cosmetics.
There are adequate synthetic alternatives, but such is man’s inhumanity towards animals that the slaughter continues.

It is our responsibility to carefully boycott all horrid and ugly products which are a result of cruelty to animals.
We must all do what we can to secure the well-being of all animals and so fulfill the creative joy and purpose of Almighty God, Jesus Christ.
Take a stand against cruelty to animals.Fight Animal Cruelty.Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.
A child of God is compassionate, caring, and loving.A child of God loves animals and doesn’t cause needless pain, suffering, or harm to animals (Proverb 12:10).

Animals have a soul, which many people do not realize. The soul is composed of 3 elements: a MIND to think, a Heart to feel emotions, and a WILL to decide.

Animals, just as humans, possess these characteristics. Animals can become sad, and depressed, if mistreated. Likewise, animals are happy and content when we respect them as creatures of God’s divine handiwork and omnipotence.Animals do not have a sin-nature, as humans do.
In Luke 12:6 we learn that animals are very important to God, and He keeps track of every one of them… “Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?”God sees every abused animal, and no tyrant will go unpunished, and they deserve to be punished.

The bible shows us that God cares about life in general, and does regard the life of each animal.God knows the whereabouts and condition of EVERY ANIMAL ON EARTH, teaching that not even a sparrow can fall from the sky without God allowing it to happen.
“Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father” (Matthew 10:29) This makes it difficult to understand why God allows animal abuse at all, or human abuse, but we know that sin always brings suffering, even for the innocent at times.
We must always remember that it was Eve’s rationalizing that caused her to eat of the forbidden tree, which influenced Adam to follow in sin, which plunged the human race into darkness and sin.
Genesis 3:6 tells us that IN HER OWN MIND, Eve had fabricated 3 good excuses why she felt justified in disobeying God: 1) It was good for food, 2) The tree was pleasing to the eyes, 3).It was a desirable tree to make one wise.
People make the same horrible mistake today, looking for lame reasons to justify disobeying God, and the world continues in suffering, misery and darkness without Jesus Christ.

In the 1877 classic novel Black Beauty, audiences learned to empathize with the sufferings of a horse forced to pull cabs through London.Yet 137 years later, horse-drawn carriages are still popular in a number of cities around the world, including New York City.Even horse lovers will go for a horse-drawn carriage ride in the city, thinking of it as romantic and fun.

Most people do not realize the hardships and suffering that horses working in NYC go through. The harsh reality is that horses are not meant to work long, difficult hours in an urban environment, and this work constitutes nothing less than animal cruelty.

There are about 220 horses in NYC who work drawing carriages. They usually work about nine hours a day, seven days a week.At the end of the day, instead of being turned out into pastures as is healthy for horses, they are placed in stalls near the Lincoln Tunnel and West Side Highway. They do not have a chance to run around, roll, eat grass, or socialize as is normal for horses. Then, at the end of a long and tiring career, carriage horses do not get to retire out to a pasture somewhere.Instead, most worn-out horses are either slaughtered for dog food or sold to overseas slaughterhouses that will sell their meat to people abroad.
Horses are simply not meant to live their entire lives in an urban environment like NYC.The carriages they must pull are a very heavy load, and they must pull them all day across hard pavement, which is bad for their hooves and joints.
Many drivers force their horses to work even in high temperatures, which have caused a number of horses to collapse while pulling carriages. The horses also breathe in exhaust from all the surrounding vehicles, which can lead to respiratory problems. In addition, the horses can be spooked by the many loud sounds characteristic of a large city.In addition to harming themselves, the horses can cause harm to their drivers, passengers, and nearby pedestrians.
In fact, there have been a large number of accidents coming from horse-drawn carriages in NYC. In only the past two years, there have been over twenty reported accidents. These include horses spooking, crashing into taxi cabs, and falling to the ground. These incidents are dangerous to the people around and are clearly dangerous for the horses. It is simply not worth it to endanger so many beautiful animals and the people nearby in order to have horse-drawn carriages.
There are a number of great activists and wonderful organizations who are working to ban horse-drawn carriages and help NYC’s horses.
Many  lovely activists has led efforts by PETA to educate the public about the condition of carriage horses and bring an end to their suffering.
The fabulous activists at NY Class, have maintained a growing list of incidents involving horse-drawn carriages and encourage people to take action.

The Coalition to Ban Horse-Drawn Carriages is organizing to affect a ban on the cruel treatment of horses.

In addition, Friends of Animals, a fantastic organization, has been organizing protests and keeping pressure on Mayor Bill de Blasio to enforce a ban.
There are things that you can do to help as well.If you’re visiting New York City or another city that has horse-drawn carriages, do not pay for a ride in a carriage.
It may seem like a memorable experience, but you are only contributing to the cruel treatment of that horse. If everyone were to stop taking carriage rides, the industry would soon collapse on its own.If you live in NYC, you can contact your local legislator and encourage them to support a ban on horse-drawn carriages.
In particular, NYC mayor Bill de Blasio has claimed that he will ban horse-drawn carriages from New York City’s streets. You can call his office and ask him to keep his word.Don't give up on lives who need your help.Horses are suffering every day, and many cannot afford to wait much longer to be freed from animal cruelty.
There are many kind cities, including Key West, Palm Beach, Camden, and Biloxi that have already banned horse-drawn carriages.

More kind-hearted, intelligent and beautiful people are recognizing them as animal cruelty, and enforcing a ban is certainly possible.
It’s time that the residents and politicians of NYC and other cities care for their fellow creatures and take steps to end the cruel suffering of the city’s carriage horses, and other forms of cruelty that target the lives of the the innocent, abused, ill, elderly, helpless, and the poor and needy.Blessed are those who mourn-God,Jesus Christ.

The world is full of animals in need, and far too often, their cries for help are left unanswered.Every so often, an advertisement seeking funding for needy animals will come on the television as I work on my articles and I'll turn to my rabbit, resting in her nest of cozy toys and her pastel pink, blue or purple blankets, and remark to her that she just does not understand how good she has it in life.

Just recently, in fact, I was hit with this random, gut-wrenching feeling at the simple thought of my rabbit feeling sad, or perhaps scared.

There's no doubt that I love my rabbit, just like there's no doubt that virtually all pet owners love their pets, but how often do we turn a blind eye to the sad commercials? How often do we walk past a stray animal on the street?

It's easy to feel defeatist, especially in the current climate of animal rights. Which of our victories are real victories when animal testing or vivisection is still a very real experience for some of our poor fellow earthlings? It's important, however, to stop and think about how seemingly microscopic actions make an enormous difference to those that we're helping.

About two years ago, a friend of mine went to go and teach English to school-children in several different countries.

There is a specific breed of dog there that is bred for the purposes of consumption, and my friend was well aware of this before she left. I asked her how she felt about this before she left at the time and she shook her shoulders.

"I don't know. . ." she said. "Is it really all that different from thinking tea cup pigs are cute, and eating bacon?"

Fast forward several months. My friend has settled into her new life in a major South Korean city and uses public transportation to get to her different schools. She is happy, and posts about her adventures on social media.

Late at night, however, she sends me a message. She revealed to me that her bus route takes her straight by one of the restaurants that serves dog as a meal, and that earlier that day, she had seen a shipment of dogs arrive.

"I couldn't breathe," she said to me, obviously still emotionally shaken. "It was everything I could do not to break down on the way to the school."

Later on, my friend met an old man who kept one of those dogs as a puppy, and she would walk past him and the pup daily. She would exchange pleasantries and pet the dog, and one day, she asked what his name was.The man replied with a bright laugh and the Korean word for dinner, again shaking my friend deeply.

Days later, my friend returned to that old man and offered him payment in return for the puppy.

Now, a year later and back on US soil, my animal companion and my friend's dog play together every now and then.

What my friend did not halt the industry that so disturbed and hurt her on an emotional level. What she did, however, made a world of difference to one sweet little animal.

Think about this the next time you wonder what difference you, as an individual, can make.

Just what is meant by the term "Animal Rights"? Does it mean that animal life needs to have prerogatives and precisely the same rights as humans? No, of course not. But it will mean that all creatures should be allowed to live their natural lives without hindrance, exploitation or cruel treatment from humans.
Individuals do not require to exploit other creatures. We've got the cleverness and inventiveness without relying on the other animals who share the planet with us, to reside. As needing other insects as well as bees for the pollination of many food plants, the only real ways in which we do need to rely on different animals is in such matters. There would be famines and starvation without the bees doing their job.

In addition, we rely on different creatures to keep down the amounts of insects that would eat all our crops.Better to rely on these creatures than to spray poison everywhere. For some other animals, where there is no exploitation by us, we don't have any need apart from a couple of cases like these to help us - we have no need to utilize or mistreat them.
We do not require animals for food - we are healthiest on a vegan diet.Along with that, the planet could take a far better state for us, also, if we adopted a plant-based diet, because animals raised for meat and milk use tremendous levels of food and water and create vast lakes of slurry and clouds of methane and carbon dioxide, which are climate-changing greenhouse gases.

Land needs to be prepared for them and the millions of tons of food that is fed to them could be utilized to feed starving individuals.Having a plant-based diet means that enough food could grow to feed all the world’s citizens.
We do not want animals to help us generate medical products. The annals of experimenting on non-human animals in the expectation of locating people drugs is one of a huge waste of time and resources.

Most drugs that pass the pre-clinical stages and look to be safe and effective in the animals used to analyze them, fail when tested on individuals.
Despite the cruelty and suffering involved in this deceitful research, among the reasons the practice is allowed to continue is because the researchers have learnt no other method to do their work.
It is what they've been trained to do.They are used to and comfortable by it.And when the drugs kill and harm people - as they frequently do, the drug companies can plead innocence to charges of negligence since they tested the drugs in rats and dogs and monkeys, and they appeared to be safe.Despite all that testing, 100,000 Americans die each year due to the effects of medically prescribed that are drugs.
The exact same pattern is seen in other nations. No, we do not require to make use of other animals to find treatments for individuals. After a century or even more of testing on monkeys, rats, dogs, cats, bunnies along with an entire menagerie of animals, states of ill health in industrial nations and all the greatest killer diseases are no nearer to being cured.
Abuse and we just do not need to use other critters. Because folks do not care about all the suffering they cause, barbarous practices and abuse continue.Their taste buds would be preferably pleased by them than give a notion to allow them to fill their bellies for the chickens, lambs, sheep rabbits and pigs which are killed.
The use of those animals in research is fake science also it hasn't been validated as a precise means of finding drugs.
Hundreds of scientists and doctors, a few of whom were once involved in this research that was inhumane, have pointed out how useless and cruel it really is and have publicly declared their opposition.

Humans possess the right not to be tested on.It is time other critters were given that right. They endure as much as any human. They feel pain and fear like we do.We don't have any right to make use of them even if such use were advantageous to us-which it isn't.

It is sometimes presumed that Animal Rights campaigners care nothing for people.Nothing might be farther from the reality.
Most individuals who campaign for rights for other animals likewise have a deep empathy for humans. Previously, in Quaker in Pennsylvania who despised cruelty of all kinds, Benjamin Lay, a vegetarian and the 18th Century, campaigned for the abolition of slavery. These are only two of numerous cases where those thinking about protecting non-humans have extended their empathy to suffering humans also.
Empathy knows no barriers of sex, race, class or species. Most campaigners for animal rights believe that creatures -including human ones-should have fundamental rights. Many are involved in political and social justice movements along with efforts calling for an end to cruelty towards nonhuman animals.
It is wrong to exploit others. It is incorrect to do unkind things. It's erroneous to slaughter animals. It is also erroneous to do it to other creatures, if it's wrong to make a move to humans.

Can non-individuals be treated badly because they lack the intelligence of most human grownups? If so, you will find human adults who lack the brains of a few other creatures. But no reasonable individual advocates that they should be handled in the cruel ways which are allowed for animals on farms, in circuses as well as in the wild or that they be used to discover and develop drugs.

By showing respect to all animals these days and permitting rights to them, we individuals would benefit.
We would have better health from better research techniques.More water, as it'd not be employed for farm animals which currently want millions of gallons a day. More property for recreational use-including areas to see wild creatures.Less pollution-including the pollution that adds to global warming.Clearer consciences. And possibly admiration and empathy for every other.
